All-Star Uli

We missed the little Mädchen!

Of everyone making their return to the PR sphere, Uli was the one we were most excited about seeing again.

Not just because she's entertaining as hell, but also because we always felt she was robbed out of a win in season 3 and we wanted to see what she would do with another shot.

She must have felt the pressure because the little Fräulein revealed a heretofore unseen bitchy side as the claws came out against, of all people, Sweet P. She seemed to consider her her biggest competition for some bizarre reason. They're both blonde. That's about where the similarities begin and end.

Common sense would dictate that we feature Korto's collection before this one but frankly, we need to get this out of our systems. There was a lot of crack-smokery coming off the judges that night, but what they did to Uli made the least sense of all to us.

To be honest, this was not a favorite of ours.

Not because there's anything wrong with it. In fact, it's perfectly done. The only reason we don't love it comes down to taste. It's just not the kind of thing we respond to.

But it's still very pretty and stylish, with a lot of lovely detailing.

Now THIS, kittens. THIS is GORGEOUS.

Look at that! Because god knows those judges didn't! How freaking beautiful is that? And how wonderful that she decided to showcase a more architectural aesthetic, something we didn't even know she had.

The back was nice too, but let's face it, this is a "walking towards" dress, not a "walking away" one.

It is SO much easier to write about ugly clothes because we're never at a loss for words, so we apologize for being boring and repetitive, but...LOOK AT THAT! How GORGEOUS IS THAT? There isn't one critical thing we can say here.

Everything is stylish and beautiful and impeccably made.

Frankly, and we're ashamed to admit this, we didn't know she had it in her. Don't get us wrong, we've always been big Uli fans and like we said, we loved her Bryant Park collection, but this stuff is miles ahead of where she was 3 years ago.

We don't know what's more stunning; this look taken on its own or this look because it's made out of shit she scavenged from a restaurant.

Obviously, we loved the previous two pieces, but this is by far our favorite look. In fact, it's our favorite look of the night.

It's not just that it's so beautifully made and that you'd never know she made it out of unconventional materials; it's that it's also right on trend and looks like it could have walked down a runway this season.

In fact, if we can use a Heidi point, it's the most expensive-looking piece in her collection.

Nina said, "I see that it's become a more sophisticated collection, but I miss the spirit that you had before," and we had to resist the urge to throw things at our TV. You mean that "spirit" that all you guys criticized her for overdoing the last time? Is that what you're talking about, Nina? What nonsense. As if growth and change are bad things for a designer. Take a look at Diane and Michael's Fall'06 collections and then look at their Fall '09 collections. They weren't doing the exact same things they were doing 3 years ago, so it's pretty egregious that they would try to criticize Uli for that.

The more we think about it, the more the judging comes across completely arbitrary. We've already said that they clearly wanted to give the win to Daniel, no matter what. To expand on that point, we think it's pretty obvious that they wanted to give Sweet P and Chris March a "story" of redemption, so they also were going to be in the top 4 no matter what. We can debate whether Uli's work was better than Chris' but there's no way Sweet P's collection was better than this one.
