We just got finished writing our [plug] accessories post for Flypaper, the Bluefly blog[/plug] when what popped into our inbox, but a press release from Shelley O's favorite designer, Jason Wu, chatting up his new sunglasses line.

“Launching an eyewear collection felt like a natural progression for the Jason Wu brand,” explained designer Jason Wu. “The pieces combine sleek, modern finishes, which I love, with unusual materials and details. I wanted to put my stamp on an item which would be accessible to a broader market and with an inherently chic connotation—sunglasses.”

The reason this is notable is because the designers did NOT use the accessories wall thoughtfully last night, although a couple of them did utilize sunglasses to finish off their look. So, kittens, enjoy these gorgeous sunglasses and go check out our accessories post on Flypaper, here.

Spring 2010 Potpourri: New York

Great colors, drab silhouettes, all the hems are the exact same length.

A little bit of safari, a little bit of Queen Elizabeth, a little bit Heidi of the Swiss Alps. With all that, why is it so boring?

Marc Jacobs

Great colors, interesting shapes and textures. He always likes to pair pieces in the worst possible way, though. And no one asked for the outerbra to come back.

Jason Wu

He stepped it up. More interesting silhouettes and textures, lots of color. They don't look like Simplicity patterns this time.

Carolina Herrera

Classic. Timeless. Other words that are euphemisms for "boring." No, really. We like it. It's just that it's not exactly reinventing the wheel.

Jason Wu Resort 2010 Collection

Style.com gives their take:

"Wu's Resort show was full of reliably pretty dresses, among them a print chiffon frock peeking from underneath a navy trench and a short strapless number in three-dimensional petals. What really felt fresh, though, was the lemon silk shantung blazer that he opened with, as well as the blue tweed pantsuit he sent out a little later on. They weren't necessarily the first pieces of tailoring Wu has ever put on the runway, but they conveyed a message."

Once again we feel we have to point out that style.com's being a bit diplomatic here. Don't get us wrong, they hit the nail on the head with "reliably pretty." It's just that all that talk of "fresh" looks conveying a "message" is perhaps overstating it a bit.

There's a reason Michelle Obama put his name on the map: he makes inoffensive, attractive clothing, perfect for a first lady or politician's wife. "Reliably pretty." Not necessarily the kind of stuff that's gonna light up a Vogue cover, but it's all tasteful and well done.
