Staggering to the finish line.
Korto's initial good impression is rapidly fading with each challenge. While this week's entry was better than last week's, it's still a fairly poor attempt.
Look, jumpsuits are making a comeback (although we suspect it's a brief one), so points to her for being on trend. That doesn't mean we have to like it, though.
Did the designers collectively just not get this challenge? What about this look says "night on the town in NYC?" What does the picture she took have to do with this look?
It's a testament to how badly these looks are photographed on the show that there's simply no way to tell that she apparently used rope and braiding techniques to mimic the column in the picture. It's way too subtle to be appreciated, but she did actually make a limited attempt at "inspiration."
Still, it's just a terribly bland look paired with bland styling. We're not all that crazy about the proportions either. The flare on those pants is insane and the bust and collar do weird things to her torso. Not flattering and not interesting.
Suede misses his mommy.
It's ... alright, we guess. So long as you ignore the execution and fit flaws. And the bigass HAZMAT boots.
He really only took color from his inspiration and then went off on his own. To our tastes, there's a little too much shiny and a little too much bling here.
To his credit, he did use some nice details that didn't show up on the Black Runway of Doom.
It's just that it's kind of sloppy-looking and it doesn't appear to fit her properly anywhere.
Still, lose the tacky belt, steam that thing, take another crack at that hemline, and put it on a person it fits correctly and it's not a bad look.
If Daniel wrote his autobiography, it would be titled Daniel Feld: Ten Seconds to Meltdown. Not that he ever will have a meltdown. He appears to live in a perpetual state of razor's edge. Almost, but not quite, flipping out.
And we don't get this dress. It looks like she's still in the process of putting it on.
Like so many others, his inspiration was incredibly vague but props to him for mimicking the quality of light in the photo so effectively.
There's all kinds of ...business going on in that bodice.
So much, that we can't really get a handle on it. The finished effect looks like a lot of extra fabric hanging of her boob.
Just once, we'd like to see Daniel (who we can tell is talented) would calm down and make something a little simple and classic just to prove that he can. He seems to be throwing every trick he knows at the dress form every week and the result is always too much look.

Fauxhawks, Leathuh, Go Ask Alice
First up: Kelli.
Lorenzo HATED this look; Tom didn't.
The end. Next!
Oh, alright.
Let's just dispense with the idea that she really nailed her inspiration. She took a picture of something black and silver and made a black outfit with silver accessories. Not wowing us with the originality.
Lorenzo thinks it's a LOT of look and a lot of that look is somewhat lame. Tom thinks the garment is fine, but the styling came close to ruining it. That fauxhawk, the overdone makeup, the gladiator sandals - it all took away from the look rather than adding to it.
That top is kind of sharp-looking and we wonder how she made it, although we don't like the fabric she used underneath. And what are those little buckley, strappy things on her torso?
Definitely not a winning look, but with better styling it could be quite chic.
Cheroin is into leathuh and she don't care who knows it.
On the one hand, she is reality television GOLD and Bravo should definitely give her her own show. A sort of What Not to Wear for roadies and Hell's Angels, we're thinking.
On the other hand, as a design contestant, she's a real pain in the ass.
"I am rock-and-roll and I am gonna die rock-and-roll."
That's great, honey. This isn't American Idol. Now go make a dress without using a hammer.
Believe it or not, we think this is very well done. She's not going to step one millimeter outside her comfort zone and that's ultimately going to get her thrown out, but at least she's demonstrating that she's good at what she does.
The proportions are nice and the metallic faux croc leather was a nice touch that dressed the look up a bit.
Although there seems to be minor fit issues around the waist and crotch area and the straps on the top are uneven.
Still, good enough to keep her in the game another week. But at some point the judges are going to have to address the elephant in the room. No matter how good her work is, if this is the sum total of her aesthetic, then she needs to go.
Jennifer always looks like she's late for a tea party through the looking glass, doesn't she?
We've been staring at this picture for ten minutes, straining to turn a "down the rabbit hole" joke into a "the rabbit died" one because for some reason, Alice here thought she was making a maternity dress.
It's just the very definition of "dowdy," from the color, to the proportions, to the fit. Absolutely nothing about this look says "night on the town." More like "formal Lamaze class."
That neckline is awful and her boobs look droopy. The only thing that referred to the inspiration were the "clock face" cuffs, but you'd never know that was what they're supposed to represent.
And multiple hems are fine, so long as they work with each other, instead of looking like she has three dresses of varying lengths on.
And WHAT is UP with that shitastic bottom hem? Poor job, Alice.

Pasta Joe and Judy Noodles

Once again, Joe skates in under the radar. It's too early to tell if this is an actual strategy on his part, but for the most part, he makes decent, reliable clothing. Not good enough to be noticed and not bad enough to be, well, noticed.
And once again, we're looking at something that's a little boring, but spiced up with a little tackiness.
Credit has to be given for fully realizing his inspiration. Sure, it doesn't say "night out in NYC" and as a dress, it's way too literal an interpretation, but there's something elegantly simple about being able to draw such a straight line from inspiration to realization.
Silhouette, proportion, fit - all fine. Basic, but fine.
It's the style that loses us. The shiny fabric in that bodice, although it exactly matches the quality of light in the photo, looks cheap. The shirring in the bust kind of bumps up the cheapness effect. And chokers should be used sparingly, if at all.
Oh, did we say we liked the silhouette? We did. Until she turned around. There's just no need for that tulle tail.
Judy Bernly knocks one out of the park by revisiting the design element that almost got her kicked off days before. We have to say, she may be quiet, but little Judy's got balls.
This was a very chic, understated look that was pretty much perfectly presented.
It seemed that she really needed to get those noodles out of her system. We wonder if she felt she needed to prove her vision to the judges since she clearly felt they didn't get it the week before.
Well, there was a difference. The week before, her noodles looked sloppy and half-assed. Now they look well-executed and thought out.
We think it was wise to downplay the top and let the skirt do all the talking. We also think playing around with different fabric finishes to get her effect showed that she's inventive and has a clearly defined sense of understatement.
Also, good job on the styling. Chic and simple.
If we have one criticism, it's that the skirt needed some fine-tuning so that all the pieces could lay correctly. We're willing to cut her some slack due to time restraints, but we were puzzled when the judges were all "It looks like it came right off the rack!" No it doesn't. It's close, but it's not quite there.
