Lost: S5/E1&2: Wandering Through the Jungle
We write one post about how we caught the Lost bug and everyone responds with "You're blogging Lost?!?! Squeee!!!" Honeys, we never said we were blogging Lost but now we feel we have to for you, our loyal minions.
Here's the thing: there are a brazillion sites out there for Lost fanatics to find their fix and we would be foolish to try and jump into that pool so late in the game. Rather than do strict recaps or even much in the way of analysis, we're just gonna throw a post up every Thursday with some bullet points about whatever pops into our heads. Add your own!
To wit:
♦ It felt like last night's episodes were a bit of a greatest hits mix for the show. Between the return of the hatch (and crazed Desmond locked up inside it), the Nigerian drug plane, and Ana-Lucia ("Libby says hey." AWESOME.) it felt like they were throwing some bones to the more obsessive fans.
♦ Looks like Daniel and Desmond are the way back for our castaways. That opening scene with Faraday in the Orchid station must be a sort of flashforward/back. It happens in the "past" but at a point we haven't seen yet.
♦ Daniel's mother. Ooooh. Who could THAT be? We're assuming it's Mrs. Hawkings, but why does she have an English accent and Faraday doesn't? And if Desmond's supposed to find her at Oxford, he's SOL because right "now," she's in L.A. with Ben. Incidentally, Desmond is the shit. The only truly unabashedly heroic character in the entire cast. And now he's apparently "Time Jesus."
♦ Oh, Sun. What have you become? On the one hand, the new hard-edged Sun is fabulous in the extreme. On the other hand, sitting down with Charles Widmore? Not a good idea. Is she setting Kate up somehow? Did she sic the lawyers on her? Or did Widmore? Or Ben, for that matter?
♦ Yes, yes. Shirtless Sawyer. Clearly a shoutout to the lady fans. Holloway's a good-looking man but he never did anything for us. On the other hand, his line about losing everything he cared about on that boat pulled on the ol' heartstrings. We kinda liked the interaction between him and Juliet. It felt new. They really haven't had many scenes together prior to this.
♦ Another tug on the ol' heartstrings was Mrs. Reyes' heartfelt "I believe you." to her son. Honestly, the tale he was telling her was so damn crazy that we never thought she'd say that but it was sweet. And Hurley! What are you doing?! Ana-Lucia told you not to get arrested! Haven't you learned by now to do what the dead people tell you to do?
Guessing time! Locke: not really dead. Charlotte: soon to be dead.
