LML: Runway Rundown Part 2

Hit it!

Eric & Galina

In terms of design, it couldn't be any more basic. In terms of style, it's way too '90s South Beach. In terms of that gold rick-racky trim near the hem, we are appalled.

Kevin & Akiko

Between the spitting and the plotting, we'd about had enough of this guy by the end of the first hour.

The dress is fine. Nothing new or exciting but very wearable. Two things: the bust line's a little uneven and the fabric's a little Blanche Devereux's Lanai Cushion Collection.

Merle & Thai

A veteran of countless red carpet commentary bitchfests (not to mention RuPaul's Drag Race), we expect great things from Merle in this competition.

And while this isn't flawless by any means, it's a pretty good start and a baseline for her line, apparently.

She's all into the utilitarian aspect of clothing and how to give the consumer more bang for their buck. You can really lapse into gimmicky stuff from that starting point, but if she keeps it useful and stylish, she can give the judges something to talk about - in a good way.

Roberto & Patrick

Darlings, camera-hogging drama queens are the lifeblood of reality television blogging. Without them, where would we get our jokes? Unfortunately for them, we've been doing this a while and we have little patience for those CHDQs who can't even do it with a little finesse. Roberto here all but held up a sign that read "I'm only doing this to get camera time," it was that clumsy and obvious. As such, we will not reward him for his bumbling efforts. Roberto darling, one must do these things with some thought and preparation. One doesn't simply decide on the spur of the moment to have a hissy fit over nothing. One does the slow burn, with bitchy comments. That way, when the blowup comes, you've laid the groundwork and both you and your sparring partner will have plenty of opportunity to really get in there and get bitchy. Honestly. Must we teach you bitches everything?

As for the look:
Now we know why he suddenly decided to stage a hissy. He could smell the bad.

Look, Patrick's (surprisingly) a sweetie, and we can totally support dandy-ism in all its forms, but this is just a lot of color and shine piled on top of the poor girl with no thought to proportion or fit or style. It's like these two queens have a style concept no more broad than " A LOT - and PLENTY of it!"

LML: Runway Rundown

Hit it!

There are so many of them and we need to learn their names if we want to make fun of them blog about them, so let's do the blogging equivalent of speed-dating. Ready? Go!

David & Julie

Always wonderful to see the lovely Miss Amanda Fields, but manohman, was this ever a clumsy, unattractive look. Could have been cute, but the vest threw the proportions way off.

Kathy & Emil

Boring. Safe. Points for color.

Marilyn & Coco

"Marilyn & Coco" sounds like a drag act. Expect about as much drama from these two.

It's all right. We guess we can see why the audience chose it as their favorite, but it's way too Fierce with a capital F. It looks like something you'd see on Ugly Betty. She's way too hung up on having an "impact" on the runway, so we figure we're going to be seeing more of these slightly campy looks.

Vanessa & Tressa

Crazies on the bottom! Oh come on. A show like this? It needs its characters. There was no way she was going home before they could milk a little crazy out of her.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada did it first and did it better. Sure, it's cracktacular, but come on, someone needed to liven up that department store runway show. More please!

Launch My Line S1E1: Congrats & Goodbye

Dressforms and bitchery!

First off:
HOW FUCKING CUTE ARE THESE LITTLE GAY FASHION PIXIES?

More wardrobe changes than a Cher concert! Bow down!

We have to give them props. That is a killer work space. We liked the twist that they had to buy all their fabric for their line at once. That notions closet could be fun or it could be a petri dish of resentments and backstabbings, which, come to think of it, still sounds like fun.

And look at that runway! It's like something out of a Mitzi Gaynor special.

Blah, blah, blah. Meet the designer wannabes...

...and the experts. The usual ragtag band of gypsies and attention whores.

Her Grand Highness, Queen Attention Whore the First.

Cute clueless guy who dresses like a Saved by the Bell cast member. He had "first to go home" scrawled all over him in ultraviolet ink.

Architect.

CEO.

The Professor and Mary Ann. Look, we didn't learn everybody's names. There are a LOT of them. It'll click eventually.

Their little feet don't reach the floor! How fucking cute is that? The set looks like it was a leftover from Eurovision.

So congratulations, Lou Rawls' daughter! Hopefully, we'll learn your name soon.

We thought the dress was just okay. Nothing to get excited about.

And we agreed with the criticism coming from...Dan? Dean? One of those little fashion dolls that said the hem was too sharp.

Seeya to the cute, clueless guy who dresses like a Saved by the Bell cast member!

What is up with that, anyway?

To be honest, while we didn't think this was good, exactly, it was better than a couple of the other ones, in our opinion.

At least it was trying to do something a little interesting, even if it didn't quite pull it off.

But y'know, they're clearly not approaching fashion from the more editorial point of view. We may have to start a drinking game for every time the words "line" or "customer" are used. It's a glitzy show about people who want to sell their clothes, so "point of view" is gonna naturally fall to the way side in favor of "wearability." That's fine. We're looking forward to it.

Things to look out for in the coming season that make us think this might be the greatest campy reality television show ever:

DEADLY SNAKES.

LADY GAGA.

OLD NAKED GUYS.
