Team... Logathea? Algan?

Darlings, we saved the best for last.
HAHA! No we didn't!

It's amazing they got any work done, what with all the time they needed to spend finding the perfect way to light their cheekbones.

"Haha! Logan! Who gives a shit about the clothes when everyone wants to do us, am I right?"

Model: Tara Egan

It's just all right. Obviously, the skirt's a slutstravaganza. At least they had the sense to notice it was too short even if it was too late for them to do anything about it.

The jacket is interesting. We like the the proportions on it. The only problem is that it fits terribly.

It's even loose along her back. That couldn't have been a deliberate choice. It also suffers from being rendered in some pretty cheap looking fabrics. What was the deal with Mood this week? Did they just direct them all to the bargain bins?

Model: Lisa Blades

What the...?

Poodles, what IS this? What is all that crap around her neck and front? Why is she wearing her father's pants? And the $64,000 question...

Could anyone please point to the blue on this? This was the easiest challenge in the history of the show: "Make something pretty and blue," and they couldn't fulfill one of those two dictates? And don't give us that "Oh, it's kinda of a slate blue," or any other Sherwin Williams-y kinda euphemisms for "gray."

Clearly, the judges overlooked this little lapse because they were once again blinded by Logan's silver VPL jeans. That boy may be pretty but he sure ain't dumb.

Team Girlie

*gigglehairflip*

Upon reflection (because that is what we do Chez T Lo, we reflect on Project Runway) we think Team Girlie should have won this challenge.

Don't get us wrong, we liked Irina and Gordana's work, but the pieces from this collection, bland though they may be, had a little bit more style to them.

Model: Vanessa Fitzgerald

We don't LOVELOVE anything here, but that's because of the lameness of the challenge, which may as well have been, "Be bland! And blue!"

Still, we like the work on the neckline of that top.

And we like the sexy, slightly romantic back of it.

The only part we could really do without was that sash.

Just a little too big for us. We're resigned to the tights. We don't love them but they are in style.

Model: Ebony Jointer

This was actually a very cute, very stylish look.

It's got a little bit of a Joan Holloway vibe, especially with the scarf.

And again, we loved the back. They really went for the walking away effect on these two pieces.

Our only real problem with it is in the choice of fabrics. This could have really looked high end if they'd chosen better.

They weren't just more stylish than Irina's looks, they were also more salable, because CH wisely decided to go all separates, which is very department store-friendly.

Team Delusional

Disco pumpkin, bitches!

Darlings, watching two of our favorite designers convince themselves they were knocking it out of the park when anyone with a set of eyes could see they weren't, well, it was like watching a slow motion train wreck.

It's weird. Neither of the pieces they produced looked at all like something either of them would have designed. Yet they were both so pleased with the results. We'll have to chalk it up to sleep deprivation. Because, honeys?

Model: Celine Chua

That ain't good.

Aside from the bib and the ruffled neckline, we're not seeing Christopher anywhere in this design. We took him to task for working too much in his safe zone, so we can only assume that he was making a conscious effort to move out of it.

Although to be more accurate, this isn't that far from what he's done before going by his entry in the maternity challenge. It's just a very bland shape and the fabric looks cheap and not chic or stylish in any way.

We don't get the Duchess's "disco pumpkin" remark even if it does make for a very quotable sound bite. He must have figured that his "disco soccerball" critique of Ari's first outfit was worth repeating. We look forward to "disco pomegranate" and "disco bowling ball" making their appearances.

Model: Tanisha Harper

Do you see Christopher or Epperson anywhere in this piece? For that matter, considering how style-less and done this look is, do you see any designer at all?

They hopped up and down in that workroom like they invented the idea of the shirt dress that looks exactly like a shirt. Newsflash, sleep-deprived: you didn't.

What can we say? The only bit of style they added - the sash - we don't like.

The rest of it is as basic as basic gets.

And the shininess of that fabric is not fabulous.

We've said this before about contestants who tout their self-taught capabilities and lack of formal training: that's all well and good, but there's more to schooling than learning technique. Design skills can be self-taught if one has the discipline and the perseverance, but you miss out on one important element of schooling: the critique process. And if you haven't learned how to go through that process...

...you wind up with this.

And then everyone looks at you like this:

Which makes you do this:

There's a lesson there for all of us.

Bye-bye Birdie

Let's keep singing the blues, ladies.

Louise finally showed a little personality with the bird noises and that was all she wrote for her. Let that be a lesson, future contestants: don't show any personality.

As an aside, does it strike anyone else as a little weird that, even though the designers all seem to get along for the most part, at the start of every episode they're all "Oh, so-and-so went home. Any coffee left?" You'll see more emoting at an Asperger's convention.

Show of hands: who else thought these two were a disastrous combination? Nothing about them, from personality to aesthetic, would lead anyone to think they'd make a good team.

And hey, bitchface, how about you discuss your concerns about the pieces with the team leader instead of with everyone else in the room, including the camera man? Way to be a team player there, Pocahontas.

We felt bad for her. She fell into that classic trap: "The judges said I was boring last week, so this week, I'm going to do something CRAZY."

Model: Kojii Helnwein

Well, she succeeded on that front.

Although to be fair, this wasn't all that bad.

Ridiculously basic, but not that bad.

Unlike Nicolas, we have no problem with ruffles (and someone who keeps returning to cheap flammable lace should probably think twice before expressing his disgust). It's just that these ruffles were kind of weird and weirdly placed. Had she or Nicolas come up with a better way to utilize them, it could have saved the dress.

Model: Kalyn Hemphill

On the other hand, we don't know WHAT could have saved this dress. And who picked those shoes?

It's not just that it looks like she has a fungus growing on her; it's that the dress itself is so badly made. Look at her left boob. Why does one cup look about three sizes larger than the other one?

And look at how wrinkly and puckery the rest of it looks. Why did they ever choose that fabric? Despite what the judges said, this doesn't look like a bridesmaid dress to us but we can't deny that that is definitely a bridesmaid dress kind of fabric.

And again, take away the frippery and it could be more basic of a dress. In fact, that was her whole problem: she made two very basic dresses that she tried to tart up with some very bad ideas.

At least it allowed Frau Seal to get her German on. With Nina gone, clearly She and Michael felt they had to step up the bitchiness.

"Nicolas, did you win the last challenge?"

"Yes , Heidi. I did."

"So that means you have immunity. Aren't you lucky that you have immunity?"

"Um...yes."

"Say it, then. Say, "I'm lucky I have immunity."

"I - I'm lucky to have immunity."

"Damn straight. Get off my runway."
