The 20 Worst PR Looks of All Time

You heard us. Twenty. Because there was no way in hell we could have narrowed it down to just ten. We tried, kittens, but it was far too Herculean a task for two l'il ol' bloggers like us.

Besides, we get to wring more posts out of it.

Except for the Top 5, you're going to have to take any of the rankings with a grain of salt. There was such a hairbreadth's difference in awfulness between some of these looks that we practically had to flip a coin to decide what goes where. And unlike the Top Ten lists, where we actively tried to represent a range of designers instead of having the same designer appear 5 times, this time we said "Screw it. If they're bad enough to appear on the list more than once, they earned it," so you WILL see some designers make more than one appearance on the list.

Alright! Let's start the crapfest!

Number 20

Season 4 - Episode 1: "Sew Us What You Got"
Designer: Carmen Webber

When Lorenzo showed Tom this picture, he completely blanked on which episode it was from and said "So...what? She had to make it out of garbage? Old clothes? Help me out here." When Lorenzo reminded him that it was from the first episode of Season 4, when they ran through Bryant Park to snag fabric samples, Tom's jaw dropped. "Oh right. She had FREE REIN to do whatever she wanted! And she did that!"

We think that sums it up.

Number 19

Season 2 - Episode 5: "Social Scene"
Designer: Guadalupe Vidal

LUPE! The highlight of Season 2. Oh don't get us wrong, there were your Santinos and Uncle Nicks, and Danny V's, but for us, Season 2 is fondly remembered for its LUPEness. This concoction, desperately offered up to guest judge Nicky Hilton as a cocktail dress, is awesome in its LUPE-osity.

Number 18

Season 2 - Episode 2: "Clothes Off Your Back"
Designer: Kirsten Ehrig

We still think this was kind of a shame. Kirsten didn't manage to stay around long, but we had a feeling she was a better designer than she came across on the show. Some people just don't "get" reality TV competitions and what's being asked of them. To her credit, she knew she had a loser with this NASCAR Slut look, badly repurposed (like Frankenstein clothes) from the clothes off her back in S2E2.

Number 17

Season 2 - Episode 2: "Clothes Off Your Back"
Designer: Marla Duran

Two in a row from the same episode! Why it is that two adult women, dressed appropriately, couldn't pull together enough fabric from their own clothes to dress a size zero model without making her look either freezing cold, or slutty? Whoresicles.

Number 16

Season 3 - Episode 5: "Iconic Statement"
Designer: Bradley Baumkirchner

Ah, yes. The moment in Season 3 when every gay man watching rolled his eyes and said, "He's straight." Kittens, he DIDN'T KNOW WHO CHER WAS. Apparently, he got just enough information from his model about the legendary performer to conclude that she buys all her clothes in Walmart's Halloween costume section and offered up this highly flammable result.

Auf Wiedersehen, Fabulous Kirsten!

We're not entirely sure why, but Kirsten's auf'ing, it haunts us, poodles.

Something about missed opportunities and having to decide between fashion and personal values - it just spoke to us, darlings.

The fabulous Hermes scarf and 6-foot glamazon with drop-dead hair didn't hurt either. It's just always been, to us, one of the more memorable auf'ings in PR history.

Of course, the fact that this outfit was such a trainwreck also contributed to its memorableness.

God, that top. As great as that classic t-shirt imagery is, the shirt was just too small for her to work it into the outfit in any meaningful way. She should have just ditched it or made a purse or belt out of it. Speaking of belts, what's going on at the top of that skirt? looks pretty rough to us.

Ouch. Kirsten honey, what were you thinking? Ticky-tacky, sweetie. Ticky. Tacky.

What's with that line of trim running straight up the middle of the skirt? Is that like the landing strip or something? Does it light up at night?

What kills us is, Kirsten had some of the best materials to work with out of anyone there. We understand and sympathize as to why she didn't use the scarf (Nina, you were being a total bitch there), but she had that fantastic metallic leather jacket and those looooong jeans to work with. She couldn't make a cute top and skirt out of that?

Ah well. We were sorry to see you go, gorgeous.

But cheer up, Miss Thing! You're fabulous, thin and tall, darling! You can't have everything, now. Otherwise, we'd all hate you!

Big Basket of Not-So's

Not so good, not so bad.

Geez, it's really hard to throw the bitchery around when you know the designer. Emmett darling, we loveya, but we don't love this dress.

Actually, it's not the dress as much as it's that jacket. As it is, the dress has a lot of elements to be taken in and it's to his credit that he kept them all subtle by going monochromatic. But there's enough going on without the jacket. The outfit doesn't need it and the jacket is just too fussy and busy.

Without it, the dress is pretty, if a little unflattering. It's almost as if he melded two dresses. If it didn't have that flared skirt, it'd be a cute little slip dress; if he'd kept the flared skirt and went with a more fitted bodice, it'd be a cute little cocktail dress.

We think Kirsten's fabulous, but this? Is not.

It seems like such a strange entry for this challenge. So blah. There's a little interest generated by the jacket, but not much.

And what we're left with doesn't look particularly well made. That back looks like a kid's craft project. Nor is it a particular good or even interesting design. Seems very fashion school-y.

And the tailoring on the pants looks terrible. We're actually a little surprised the judges didn't call her out on this.

M-I-C...

Seeya real soon!

K-E-Y...

Why? Because this dress is irritating the shit out of us!

Lovely silhouette, deep rich color. Fine. Good job, Daniel. Got that out of the way.

Now.

WHAT THE HELL is going on with that bust? It's so weirdly tailored that it completely disguises her natural curves and those utterly bizarre mouse ears are totally distracting. Plus, the trim on the skirt and the unflattering angle of that belt are big WTFs.

And then the "Too much shit on this dress" sweepstakes continue as she turns around, revealing herself to be a giant handbag.

Daniel, there's too much shit on this dress.
