Models of the Runway - E1 & 2

We have heard your pleas, minions!

Don't get us wrong, we always planned on getting around to the Models of the Runway show. It's just that we've been a mite busy with all the dress-ripping required of us these last two weeks.

Also, much as we enjoy the show, it hasn't so far lent itself to the kind of recapping and ripping that we normally do here.

While it's fun (if you're a PR fanatic) to finally see the models' reactions to the judges' decisions...

And to get a little more background on the relationships between the designers and the models...

So far, there hasn't been a whole lot of "story." Which is fine. We're perfectly happy to view the show as "bonus footage."

It's nice to see Heidi take on a little bit more of a mentor role to these girls and it's clear they all idolize the hell out of her. What young model wouldn't? She's living the dream.

Of course, it's not completely devoid of tension. They've really managed to milk the model-choosing process for all the drama they can find.

In fact, we suspect this is at least part of the reason why the viewership appears to be over-reacting to Mitchell's sins. If the model-choosing process was relegated to the first 5 minutes of Project Runway, like it used to be, there wouldn't be so much focus on who chooses whom and what the particular models think about it.

Because, come on. You never saw the models do this...

Or this, in prior seasons.

Hey, no complaints from us. We LOVE model drama, no matter how contrived it is. Where else would we have learned the delicious term "model jumper?"

With all the model jumping going on, two of the best walkers were sent home in the first two weeks, Yosuzi, who could walk like her ass was on fire, and Valerie here, who was, in our opinion, the most beautiful out of all the models.

And of course, no discussion of model drama would be complete without mentioning Fatma's scary obsession with Logan. We said that we weren't going to make assumptions about Logan's sexuality but now we almost wish he was gay just to see the Fatma's reaction when she finds out.

Because her reaction when she found out she wouldn't be walking for him anymore was PRICELESS.

Those are some scared models.

Should be interesting this week to see how well she works with a designer she clearly hates. We're going to go out on a limb and say that it's not going to be good. Could she be the model that Tim was referring to when he claimed one of them refused to wear an outfit. Stay tuned!
