Project Runway Event

Darlings, we were very sad last night.

Why were we sad? Because Marie Claire & Lifetime threw a little party to celebrate Season 6 of Project Runway at the Hearst Tower in New York City and due to a combination of us being freelancers who can't say no to a paying job (hence we had work projects sitting on our desks), and a minor family medical issue, we had to stay home and snipe at each other.

But, we couldn't let this party pass without our presence being felt, so we phoned Minion #1, Gotham Tomato, and like the Fairy Godfathers we are, hooked her up with a head-to-toe outfit from Emmett McCarthy, gave her an invitation, and told her to take her camera. Because of her tireless efforts (and pushy New Yorker attitude) she managed to get pictures of just about everyone. As the pictures came over email while we were watching the show, we wept tears of bitchiness.

We weren't there, so we'll let GT tell the tale. All of her comments are in blue and ours are in our normal bitchy black. We left a lot of GT's comments out because they didn't go with the pictures, but hopefully she'll show up in the comments section to regale us.

"The event was held on the 2nd floor mezzanine of the Hearst Tower (a great space). There was a little step & repeat red carpet with press. And then there was a section where the cocktail party was. Great hors d'oeuvres, by the way. All the designers, models, Marie Claire Editors, even Miss Nina herself (who btw, is very petite), were mingling at the cocktail party after doing their press duty at the red carpet. After about 90 minutes, they called everyone into the theatre for the screening."

"Saw Chris walking in to the cocktail party and approached him and asked if I could take his picture for T Lo's blog. He said, 'Yes, but don't you want his picture too?' (pointing to the guy next to him: It was Daniel V.) I hadn't recognized him! I apologized profusely for not recognizing him; saying, 'I'm so sorry, I feel so bad I didn't recognized you!' And he said 'Why? No, don't feel bad' He said that's why he wore his hair combed back, so no one would recognize him. I said, 'It worked!'"

Daniel was there to receive his check for winning the All-Star challenge. By the way, we'll be posting our interview with Daniel and his spring 2010 collection preview very soon.

"Some of this season's winning designs were in display at the party, and Marie Claire interns were right next to them, standing guard, not taking their eyes off them (like they were the Secret Service), especially when people approached and were posing for pictures with them."

Gordana

"Gordana was leaving the Red Carpet, just as Nicolas was arriving. She gave him a hug & I heard her whisper to him, 'I told People Magazine that I'd like to wear your designs."

La Nina

"As I was mingling, asking all the designers, models and editors if I could take their picture for the Project Rungay blog, I found that every single one reads it. Marie Claire editor Joanna said, 'It's hilarious!' When I photographed Nina Garcia I asked her if she reads it and she said, 'Yes, I do!'

We've heard too many major magazine editors praise us to be coy or even classy about it: LADIES: WE WORK CHEAP.
