Now, what can we say as an introduction? We're going to have to cop to something right away: for the most part, we didn't like this collection. There were a handful of looks that we liked and even a couple that we loved, but overall, we found it dreary and heavy and not at all modern. Rami says he was inspired by Joan of Arc and the end result of that was clothing that looked like armor - heavy and movement-restricting. The judges were dead on when they said he has problems with colors as the ones he chose didn't look current or even pretty. It's nice that he didn't drape everything but the end result pointed out that Rami's problem isn't draping, it's his excessive detailing, of which draping is only one aspect. As we said before, Rami likes fabric and he likes to make fabric do tricks for him, but he doesn't seem to understand the concept of restraint at all.
One other point: we thought the styling was awful. That tight single braid look was unattractive, the makeup was bleh and the shoes and bags looked out of style. Plus, what was with the big Wonder Woman bracelets most of the models were wearing?
Anyway, let's start the show. Brace yourself, bitches. We're gonna be harsh here, but the collection got much better in the second half.
This seems like a strange choice for opening look. It's not what we could consider a head-turner by any stretch of the imagination. Nice color, nice silhouette, but the detailing is way too much. We don't like the way it bunches around the waist nor do we like the tight hem at the bottom. We mostly like the top, especially the sleeves, but we're wondering what the point is to that half-collar.
Another strange choice because this is in a slightly different shade than the previous blue dress. It doesn't draw a comparison to it so much as it points out the differences. We don't like the length of that skirt. It just doesn't look all that modern to us. The detailing on the jacket is nice though. Overall, it looks a little dated to us.
We've already said that we love this dress. We're on record as saying that we're not huge fans of excessive draping, but the way he used the fabric to create color blocking through draping is pretty amazing. The only criticism is that once again, the skirt is too bulky in the wrong places and isn't particularly flattering to the female form.
Holy cow, we do not like this look at ALL. There's so much look here that it's hard to know where to start. Those pants are hideous both in shape and in color. They're too long, they bunch up in weird places and the pockets stick out. And that top is just, well...over the top - and not in a good way. That vest-like detail makes her boobs look big and saggy and since she's a model, we can assume that they are neither. Those sleeves look ridiculous and we wonder if she can even lift her arms in them. Overall, it's an unattractive and overworked look.
Similar to the first blue dress, but slightly better because it's not so overworked, although we're liking those sleeves less and less each time we look at them. The color is kind of dreary and not very modern and once again, he's using a tight hem, which gives the skirt a balloony effect. And why is it getting caught in her crotch like that?
That's a cute skirt. Sure, it probably has too many details on it, but at least none of them obscure her form or worse, work against it. That top is awful. Ugly fabric. And once again, way too heavy and overworked with far too many details. All too often with Rami's clothes, it looks like it would be very difficult to move in them.
