Note (and pics) from Grace

She's fabulous AND she's crazy!

"Hi boys. Grace Kelsey here. I've really enjoyed the posts about Season 2 and thanks to everyone for all the fine compliments. I'm flattered! I'm also pretty into the ongoing battle of the Hair Harpies. How exciting, especially in German."

"Perhaps this family was inspired by the Harpies. Ooooo-eeeee! That's just wrong. And I caught the doggie on Animal Planet's Ugliest Dog Contest. Looks like he's related too. Perhaps not a he with the pearls and all, but you never know."

"Here's my take on the era though my hair can't compete at all. This lion's half way there."

"Here... This hair's more like it, and no its not a wig. Thats my real hair, folks."

"And to think I used to look like this. Man, I can't believe I'm showing you this. This was back when some kid in my class used to call me FourEyesMonkeyTrainTracks. Wonder why? Now that's some nice hair... Wow. Knobby knees maybe? Can't accuse me of being anorexic... proof that twig's au naturale. And yes, I used to dance."

"And then I blossomed into a slimey bar fly guy. 'Can I buy you a drink?' Hey, even straight people like to cross dress sometimes! Oh, and thats one of MY favorite ways to do my hair."

"...but mostly I just sit around trying to figure out how to be more like this woman."

"At least here, I come close. Like Marilyn, my murderers made it look as suicide."

We love her now more than ever.

Seeya Shatangi!

Yow. Not even Tarah could make this look good.

We may have ragged on Daniel for having a somewhat uninspired inspiration, but for sheer lameness, nothing beats using a dress as inspiration for ... a dress.

Zulema really fell apart this week. We never really liked any of the stuff she made and there were always execution issues, but this represents a real crash and burn even for her.

Man, look at how shitty that thing is put together.

Utilizing our powers of reality television armchair psychoanalysis, we surmise that Tim's little "You guys suck" pep talk coupled with the "Let's not talk to dirty girl" kindergarten antics of the rest of the designers really threw her for a loop.

Despite her win last week, she'd been struggling throughout the competition and by this point her auf'ing before the final four seemed inevitable, but in typical Shatangi fashion, she couldn't go quietly. Oh no, she had to flame out dramatically. As we said, we were never her biggest fans, but that is one epic disaster of a dress even for her.

S2/E8: Congratulations Daniel!

Quickie recap: The remaining contestants have to try to draw inspiration from their surroundings while outside in New York. You can read Tim's Take here and listen to his podcast here.

This garment has been a point of contention in the T&L household for over a year now. Tom always thought it was a beautiful garment perfectly executed.

Lorenzo always thought that basing your look on a flower is far from the most original idea in the world and didn't warrant the judges spewing praise all over it.

This of course lead to screaming matches, broken dishes and unfulfilled marital duties.

Well darlings, thank Jesus for Project: Rungay. It saved our marriage. Last night we decided... we're both right! Tom conceded that Lorenzo had a point and Lorenzo conceded that it was still a beautiful garment no matter how basic the inspiration. Compromise, darlings. The secret to marriage. Compromise and blogging.

It really is a head-turner of a design and Daniel showed a heretofore unseen sense of restraint. It's simple; it's elegant; and it's well done.

Except...it sorta looks more like an onion than an orchid, don't you think?

Mother of the Year.

Our gal Laura Bennett was caught taking her brood along with her to the after-party for the documentary "Air Guitar Nation" directed by Alexandra Lipsitz at The Cutting Room. Those lucky little brats have the coolest mom ever.

Tom and Lorenzo simultaneously upon viewing this pic: "Only Laura."

Our moms took us to cub scout meetings and violin lessons when we always secretly wished they would take us to movie premieres. If one of those boys isn't gay, that would be a terrible waste. God couldn't be that cruel.

"Come on guys, it's a school night. Get up off the bar floor."

Daniel V & Nick: Recap/Rethink

We always hated this outfit, but looking at the screencaps, we wound up liking it a little more than we thought. Don't get us wrong, we're not crazy about it, but we don't hate it anymore.

The color's pretty and the basic design is fine, if a little...well, basic.

TERRIBLE styling.

Not supercrazy about the trim on the bust. Certainly, the garment needed some sort of trim or embellishment, but this seems a little too heavy.

And the whole thing is puckery and very noticeably so since the fabric is shiny.

Still, with a little more time and some tweaking, this could have been a really sharp costume.

Well let's get this out of the way first: like our thoughts on handkerchief hems, we very rarely think asymmetrical busts look good. No matter how beautiful the garment or how well-executed, we always wind up thinking the wearer looks like she's got a touch of scoliosis.

We always had this one filed in the "pretty but bland" drawer, but looking at it again, it's really much prettier than we thought. Delicate and feminine, it would look great on the ice, except for one thing: the fabric.

Tootie!

Don't get us wrong, it's a very pretty fabric. In fact, it's the best looking fabric out of all the entries. It'd be great for a party or red carpet dress, but it seems like it would wash out on the ice.

Granted, so would Zulema's but hers was a much more dramatic (and dramatically ugly) costume, so it would likely still have impact in the nosebleed seats. This, we're not so sure would register. Even from the relatively close vantage point in these shots, a lot of the fantastic detail kind of fades out.

Look at that skirt. That is really beautifully constructed - and we'd never even noticed the back on this thing before.

Honestly? Looking at these pictures, we're going to have to amend our previous position. Chloe's was nice, but this was the best entry. If only that fabric was in a more impactful shade.

GLAAD to hear it!

"Bravo's hit series "Project Runway" won a GLAAD award for Outstanding Reality Program at the 18th Annual GLAAD Media Awards last night. The honors were given out by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS) in New York at the Marriott Marquis (3/26/07). This marks the first time "Project Runway" was nominated for a GLAAD award which recognizes and honors mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

Bravo's "Project Runway" style guru Tim Gunn accepted the award for the series and said, "I don't know whether people realize the seminal work of Bravo and, by definition Bravo's support of the LGBT community. Beginning with 'Queer Eye' and transcending to 'Project Runway' and 'Work Out,' Bravo's content dispels myths, challenges stereotypes and positions LGBT issues thoughtfully and respectfully. Winning this award is quite possibly my proudest moment."

Added Bravo President Lauren Zalaznick, "This GLAAD award recognizes Bravo's commitment to present our diverse and eclectic view of the world through the creativity of our programming."

You go, girlies! These two 'mos are proud of y'all. Bravo's press release is here.
