Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana

Madge says, "You're soaking in it!"

We featured these pics on our Facebook page but we though we'd kick them over to the main arena for discussion. Vanity Fair Italy features Dolce & Gabbana's new spring/summer 2010 campaign featuring Madonna photographed by Steven Klein. Swide had this to say:

"In keeping with Dolce & Gabbana's Spring/Summer 2010 collection's emphasis on Mediterranean heritage and classic Italian sensuality, the mood isn't unlike a film from the days of Italian Neorealism. Madonna herself recalls the strong, raw sensuality of the iconic actress Anna Magnani..."

Okay, maybe that last bit is going too far for us. It's hard to project raw sensuality with so much work evident on your face. And while Madonna never really accomplished the acting career she once planned for herself due to a lack of talent, she always was really good at portraying a character and completing a scene in the medium of photography, creating one iconic image after another over the two-plus decades of her career.

It remains to be seen if these pics are going to reach icon status, but we have to say, these are the best pics we've seen of her in a long time. MUCH better than the ad she did for Louis Vuitton.
