In or Out: Tilda Swinton

There's a teeny part of us that kind of hates it when we rag on Tilda Swinton for her red-carpet choices. Why? Because unlike 99% of the women making that sashay, Tilda actually takes risks and tries to make statements. That's something we can only support wholeheartedly when we're stuck looking out at a sea of high-end prom gowns and bridesmaid dresses.

Unfortunately, sometimes she just makes it difficult:

It just doesn't work, Tilda dear. We applaud the risk, but we just can't get behind this supremely sad frock. The color is non-existent and that bodice looks like a melting ice cream cake.

We almost could have gotten behind this one. It has a mid-'40s Joan Crawford vibe to it and it's a hell of a lot more visually interesting than the previous dress. The problem is that sad little sash tied in the front. We'd go so far as to say the dress doesn't need it at all, but if you're going to wear it, at least tie it correctly. Look at the difference between her and the model. Tsk.

But how can we rip on her when she tries so hard? Sadly, we have to give her an OUT on both dresses. But Tilda darling! You get an IN for risk-taking! We love you, don't ever stop wearing crazy shit for the red carpet!
