Weep Not, Little Soldiers of Fabulosity!

Darling minions, are you depressed that Project Runway is ending tonight? Are you fearful that legal shenanigans will keep Season 6 in limbo for another decade? Dry your eyes, kittens. Stylista is on its way.

"Eleven aspiring fashion enthusiasts vie for a much-coveted editorial job with Elle magazine. They work as assistants to Elle's Fashion News Director, Anne Slowey, a demanding but well-respected fashion icon. The competitors carry out an assistant task and a fashion editorial assignment in each episode.

Each week, in consultation with Elle's Creative Director, Joe Zee, Anne fires one person, until the last assistant standing gets "promoted" to the coveted real-life job opportunity. The grand prize includes a paid editorial position at Elle magazine, a paid lease on a great apartment in Manhattan, and a clothing allowance at H&M, all for one year, valued at $100,000."

So it's pretty much Project Runway meets The Devil Wears Prada and to their credit, they're pretty upfront about it. When this show was first announced we clapped our little hands with glee at the thought of yet another attempt at bitchy fashion-related reality television. We suspected it was going to be a trainwreck of a show but we figured it would provide some entertainment value.

Well, our new peeps at the CW sent us screener copies of the first two episodes and we are giving this one the big ol' double thumbs up. It is a trainwreck of a show, but in a really good way. We're talking high comedy here, girls. From Anne "Tootie" Slowey doing her best Miranda Priestley impersonation to her laughable attempts to walk in a pair of 5-inch heels that are way too big for her to some amazing bitchfests on the very first day. Seriously, the claws are out on hour one. And we're not even going to hint at what happens in the second episode but it's not something we've ever seen on a reality TV show. High drama, babies. And we were rooting for certain contestants and throwing little darts at other ones in the first 20 minutes of viewing. They did a pretty good job of casting this one.

We were assuming that the challenges were going to be pretty stupid and to be honest, the first one - prepare Anne's breakfast - was, but the rest of the ones we saw were not only entertaining and creative, they were exactly the kinds of things an editorial assistant would be expected to do.

We don't want to give too much away. All we can say is we enjoyed the hell out of the first two episodes. This doesn't appear to be a show that takes itself too seriously yet it still manages to give the viewer an honest glimpse into the real world of fashion editorial. We don't know about you, but we plan on watching - and blogging - the whole season starting next Wednesday, Oct 22 9/8c. Delicious, delicious bitchery.
