Jerell Scott Fall 2009

Jerell presented his fall 2009 collection at Saint Louis Fashion Week and all we can say is, "Oh dear."

Hey, he's following his muse and that's great. But these looks are so far away from appealing to us personally, that it's kind of not fair for us to critique them at all. He's doing what he wants to do and he comes off as such a sweet guy that we honestly hope someone comes along and buys up all his stuff. Seriously.

There are some pieces and some elements here that could work, if only they didn't look so, well, cheap and poorly rendered. Lorenzo said of that pink and orange dress with the asymmetrical skirt: "If Galliano had sent that down the runway, everyone would applaud." To which Tom replied "If Galliano sent that down the runway, it would have been rendered in tens of thousands of dollars of expensive fabric and it would have been perfectly executed by dozens of tiny little French hands."

In other words, he's got a vision and parts of it are interesting, but he currently doesn't have the access, skill, or money to pull off what he's trying to do and what's left looks a little cheap, poorly done and we hate to say it, but a little "first-year fashion school."
