It gave him an ideal justification for playing to his strengths in poetically glamorous chiffon; bias-cut little nothings; fragile, delightful plissé puff-shouldered blouses and bed jackets; and coats symbolically decorated with clusters of flowers made out of film gel. Galliano's color sense—the ice blues, silver lamés, powder pinks, and lemons—was exquisite; it was his fashion version of Sunset Boulevard."
In a lot of ways, it's typical Galliano, which sounds a bit dismissive but isn't meant to be. What we mean by that is it's the usual melange of rich textures and colors in a tightly realized theme. For most of his career, Galliano has been defining beauty on his own terms and this collection is no different. Romantic, rich, detailed and over the top, this collection, like most of his work, is a feast for the eyes that also manages to evoke a strong emotional response as well. We love.
