Shelly O-MYGODNO!

It's about time we got to this one, wouldn't you say?

First Lady Michelle Obama on a visit to Westminster Abbey in London

You will note that we do not have our normal accompanying photo with a model wearing the same getup on the runway. That's because a piece as...um, unforgettable as this is clearly an original. We suspect one of two things: either the Obama girls completed an arts and craft project and she perhaps took the "proud mom" thing a bit too far by wearing it, or she recently had some sort of scrapbooking accident. One thing's for sure: that thing's got "glue gun" written all over it.

Look, we love having a First Lady who takes chances with her clothes. It's a trait we admire, due in no small part to its rarity among First Ladies. Of course, there's a flipside to that and disasters like this one neatly illustrate it. It's not called "taking a chance" because it's low-risk, after all.

Still, we have to wonder about the genesis of her style. It's so wildly inconsistent that we wonder if she's listening to her style team only half the time. Maybe it's a budget thing. Maybe this is just her way of saving the taxpayers some money. If that's the case, may we just say on behalf of style-conscious America, Honey, things might be tough all over, but you don't have to start making your clothes out of some old rick-rack you found in a drawer.
