We'd about had it with him last night. We usually only reserve this sentiment for the real villains and assholes on the show but we kept saying throughout the episode "He needs to just GO."
Which is a shame, because it's not like he's a bad guy and we think he's probably a decent designer, although that's really just supposition because we didn't see much evidence of it on the show. Bottom line: regardless of whatever talent he may possess, he was just all wrong for this venue and we were sick and tired of him whining about it.
And it wasn't just the whining. He's DELUSIONAL. He described Annida Greenkard's style as "aristocratic." What aristocracy would that be, Daniel? The stately court of the Bronx?
When a designer comes along and defiantly goes against the judges' expectations, like a Santino or a Jeffrey, we can at least respect that. "This is my style and I don't give a shit." That's all well and good and sometimes it even works, but that wasn't what Daniel was doing. He approached every challenge from his own narrow aesthetic and always seemed shocked that the judges didn't just fall down and praise his skill and taste. He never even recognized that he wasn't fulfilling the dictates of the challenge.
He actually argued FOR tastefullness and AGAINST anything showy or sparkly.
For a drag queen.

Like we said, delusional.
The dress isn't horrible. It's just dull and doesn't look like something a drag queen would wear.
The only thing remotely drag about it is the fabric, which borders on tacky.
Nothing wrong with that, of course. But why pick a loud, tacky fabric and then make a fairly understated dress out of it? No feathers, no sequins, no bling of any kind? Auf.
It was for the most part, nicely executed, though. But that's about the only compliment we can give it.

Ugh. Get over your supposed good taste, Daniel. We think the judges were largely of the same opinion as us. He was auf'd not just for this challenge, but for his past history and for his bad attitude. Not that he was nasty or anything. In fact, he was kind of sweet but he constantly gave off the air of being too good for the competition. It's one thing to be like that while producing stunning work, but almost everything he did was wrong in terms of the challenge.
We wish him well but we're not sorry to see him go.

The collaboration was a bit worrisome to me once I discussed my ideas with Annida. I presented some more extavagant ideas to the table like a lame crystal encrusted dress, a hairdo that would emulate a bird cage, and a dress that would be made entireley out of feathers. She was particularily set in a way of dressing and said that she loved Versace and Oscar de la Renta and so I really strived to please her with a look I felt would balance what we both wanted."
