All-Star Jeffrey

Surprise! We kinda liked it!

"Fashion is so subjective. I don't think anything good comes from trying to please other people."

Very true. We have to reiterate what we said earlier: he was surprisingly low-key and professional.

We loved this dress. It's got a bit of a Balmain feel to it. It's a very simple dress, but he was wise to realize that the fabric was going to do most of the talking.

It really is a gorgeous fabric and while we never really responded well to Jeffrey's aesthetic, he always did have a tendency to pick interesting and beautiful fabrics. Remember his yellow plaid couture gown? Or his green striped zipper dress?

What surprises us the most is how on-trend this look is. That was never really Jeffrey's thing, to be trendy, but the neckline and cap sleeves are very in right now.

One thing Jeffrey does NOT excel at is styling, especially hair styling. From the neck up, she looks awful.

It's very much a Jeffrey look. We like that jacket quite a bit, even if it looks a little sloppy. The dress is okay from a design perspective. The neckline is a mess, though.

We like the fabric and even though we're not huge fans of that gathered hem, it's okay.It could be an inch or two lower, though.

Definitely not to our taste but definitely representative of what's going in certain corners of fashion right now.

We can't really point to any one element and say "That's nice" or "That's what we like," but it's modern and interesting, at least. He's still got the zipper fetish. The fit in the bodice looks pretty bad, though.

Okay, the back's nice. We do like that.

We feel like we're underpraising it. As we said, it's not to our taste, but we respect what he's doing here.

The only look we absolutely don't like at all. And if we never see another open-toed bootie again, it'll be too soon.

It's a bit "Martin Margiela on crack."

If he had just resisted the urge to use the fringe, it would have been a passably good, if a little boring, dress.

In the end, he did what he wanted to do and produced something that looks very much like him while at the same time demonstrating an understanding of the trends on the runway. Maybe not as much growth as other designers showed, but the fact that he showed growth at all kind of surprised us.
