Congratulations!

It's a baby shower, darlings!

Y'know, our first thought upon hearing of the challenge this week was "Ugh. Everyone's gonna think 'Pfft. Lifetime.'" But really, no matter what network the show was on, a maternity challenge was bound to come sooner or later. There are only so many variations on dress-designing you can come up with.

"Look, designers! It's Rebecca Romijn! And she's a freaking HOUSE! I carried much better than her, yes? I didn't look that big when they wheeled me into the delivery room!"

"My husband's way hotter than yours, bitch."

And we have to say, while normally any judging panel that doesn't include Duchess Kors is usually a less interesting panel, this one worked out really well. They all had rapport and, because they're all fashionable women who've also been pregnant, their critiques were precise and on point.

So congratulations, Shirin! It takes a big man to admit he's wrong and we're nothing if not big where it counts. Besides, we're so rarely wrong.

We admit, we had her pegged as a lightweight who would, at best, turn out a couple cute girly-girl frocks that would never get the judges' attention until she took a wrong turn and got sent home early.

And while she may yet make that wrong turn, she's a much better designer than we originally thought. And the little minx can SEW.

She turned out two gorgeous pieces without breaking a sweat. That coat is to die. We love how it's cut to give the baby bump room to breathe by having closures only at the top. Very stylish.

And the lining on it was just beautiful. A great choice that reveals that she has a good eye both for details and for picking the right fabric.

We have never, of course, been pregnant. But we've been around enough pregnant women in our lives to know that the very last thing most of them want is frilly, silly, overdone maternity clothes. Most women we know who've been pregnant would have killed to find something that looked stylish and a little sexy and most of all, simple. Shirin either has incredible instincts or she's been around pregnant women before because that's exactly what she produced; a stylish, chic, classic and simple look that showed off enough of the wearer's body to make her feel pretty.

That lattice smocking was a brilliant touch. It added a layer of interest right where it needed to go, framing the belly perfectly.

The only minor criticism we have is that the dress is, in some ways, fairly similar to the one she did last week. Same length, sleeveless, with a similar detail at the neckline.

Still, it's not worth making a big deal out of unless she continues to produce similar looks. This look was so good, so well designed, and so perfectly executed that we really can't say anything bad about it at all. What's Farsi for "Good job?"
